How many followers on TikTok to get paid, route by route

TikTok does not run a single payment program. It runs several, each with its own bar, and the non follower conditions attached to each one are what actually trip people up.

1,000 followers: LIVE Gifts

Requirement: 18 or older, at least 1,000 followers, and living in a region where gifting is supported. TikTok notes on its LIVE Gifts eligibility page that the follower threshold can vary by region.

How the money works: viewers buy coins, send you gifts during a live stream, and those gifts convert into Diamonds that you withdraw. Payment comes from your audience, not from TikTok's ad revenue.

This is the earliest genuine payout route on the platform, and it is why 1,000 is the number people quote most often. It is a real answer for 1 of the 5 routes.

1,000 followers: TikTok Shop Affiliate

Requirement: in the United States, you can self apply at 1,000 followers if you are 18 or older, based in the US, identity verified, and in good standing.

Under 5,000 followers you are automatically placed in a 30 day Affiliate Creator Pilot Program with real restrictions. Per TikTok's own Creator Eligibility Policy, during the pilot you can only promote products from sellers with a Shop Performance Score of 95% or higher, you are capped at 3 shoppable product videos per day and 3 shoppable LIVEs per week, and you cannot join seller campaigns.

Graduating out: 5,000 followers plus 30 days in the program. If you do not reach 5,000 within 30 days, TikTok offers an early exit: pass a probation quiz, hold 176 or more Creator Health Rating points, and clear 1 milestone, which is either 6 shoppable videos, 1 LIVE session, or 10 orders.

10,000 followers: Creator Rewards Program

Requirement: per TikTok's Creator Rewards Program eligibility page, 18 or older, 19 in South Korea, at least 10,000 followers, and at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days. Your account information has to be real and your account has to be in good standing.

Content conditions: the video has to be original, filmed and produced by you, at least 1 minute long, and posted after you joined the program. Older uploads do not backfill.

The conditions are cumulative, not alternatives, so all of them have to be true at once. Most people fixate on the 10,000 and get stopped by the 100,000 views.

10,000 followers: Video Gifts

Requirement: per TikTok's Video Gifts page, 18 or older, 19 in South Korea, at least 10,000 followers, an account at least 30 days old, and a public video posted in the last 30 days. The feature is not available in every region.

Video Gifts and LIVE Gifts are different products with different bars, and most guides answering this question merge them into a single line about gifts starting at 1,000 followers. The 1,000 figure applies to LIVE only.

No minimum: brand deals, affiliate links, and your own offers

TikTok sets no follower threshold here because TikTok is not the one paying you. A brand, an affiliate network, or a customer is.

What replaces the threshold is proof that your audience is worth reaching. A 3,000 follower account covering commercial roofing gets paid deals that a 40,000 follower general entertainment account does not, because the buyer knows exactly who is watching. Goldman Sachs put brand deals at roughly 70% of creator income in the survey data behind its 2023 creator economy analysis, which projected the sector doubling from $250 billion to $480 billion by 2027.

The Creator Fund is gone, which is why most answers to this question are wrong

TikTok shut down the Creator Fund on December 16, 2023 in the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Germany, as reported by TechCrunch when the announcement landed. It was replaced by what launched as the Creativity Program Beta and was renamed the Creator Rewards Program in March 2024.

The Fund had been criticized for years over payouts measured in cents per thousand views. TikTok's pitch for the replacement was that eligible creators posting original content longer than 1 minute could earn up to 20 times what the Creator Fund paid.

Use this as a filter. If a guide to TikTok's follower thresholds still leads with the Creator Fund, it has not been updated since 2023, and none of its other numbers should be trusted either. As of August 2026, 2 of the pages currently ranking on the first page for this query still lead with it.

What TikTok actually pays once you clear the bar

TikTok does not publish a universal per view rate. Payouts move with the viewer's country, the content category, watch time, and whether TikTok counts the view as qualified in the first place.

TikTok says its rewards formula weighs 4 things: originality, play duration, search value, and audience engagement. Search value and audience engagement sit largely outside what you control on any given upload, which is why a single published average is close to useless for planning your own month.

Why the follower count is not the real gate

The 100,000 views in the last 30 days condition is a rolling window that recalculates continuously, so it has to be true this month, next month, and the month after for you to keep earning from the Creator Rewards Program. Miss it and you stop being eligible until you clear it again.

Treat the follower threshold as a one off administrative step, and treat the monthly view floor as the thing you build your whole production process around.

The 1 minute minimum makes this harder rather than easier. Minute plus video takes more script, more setup, and more editing than a 7 second clip, so production cost per upload goes up at exactly the moment you need upload volume to go up too.

What the 100,000 view floor means for your posting schedule

Turn the 100,000 views floor into a posting schedule and you get a concrete number of uploads per week. Assume a per video average and the arithmetic falls out. These averages are illustrative, not TikTok data, so substitute your own numbers from your analytics.

• 2,000 views per video average: 50 qualifying videos every 30 days, roughly 12 per week
• 5,000 views per video average: 20 qualifying videos every 30 days, roughly 5 per week

The options for producing that many minute long videos, ordered from cheapest to most expensive in your time:
